Making Histories
What is history, and how is it made?
A project exploring how young people's experiences of change in Narrm/Melbourne and Djilang/Geelong are documented, whose stories become part of the historical record, and what it means to make histories on unceded lands.
This project is co-led by researchers from RMIT University and Deakin University.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Ancestors and Elders of Wadawurrung, Wurundjeri Woi wurrung and Boon wurrung/Bunurong Country, on whose unceded lands, skies and waterways this work takes place. We extend our respect and solidarity to all First Peoples we practice with, recognising that practising on unceded and sovereign lands carries ongoing responsibilities to listen, to learn and to act in ways that honour these relationships. Our work on unceded lands is guided by, and accountable to, the findings of the Yoorook Justice Commission, the ongoing Treaty for Victoria process led by the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, the Wurundjeri Woi wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation’s Whole of Country Plan (2025–2035) and Wadawurrung Healthy Country Plan (2020-2030).
